Senior Applications Engineer

Job Description

Wall Colmonoy, established in 1938, is an international materials engineering company with operations in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and France. The world headquarters is located in Madison Heights, MI. The company operates a foundry in the U.S. and the U.K. for the purpose of manufacturing nickel- and cobalt-base alloys for brazing and coating. Applications exist, and are emerging, in industries from aerospace to automotive.

Wall Colmonoy has an immediate opening for a Senior Applications Engineer.

Primary Responsibility:

  • Under the direction of the Director – Sales & Marketing, assist in accomplishing the goal of sales and profit growth for the WCC products group.

Other Responsibilities

  • Research, develop and promote new & existing applications of the WCC products group
  • Respond to customer’s and salespeople’s technical questions. Also, resolve customer product complaints.
  • Make application presentations to engineering groups, technical societies and WCC regional and national meetings.
  • Report activity of competitive applications, products and processes and identify new (competitive) products to compliment the WCC line. Maintain competitive literature reference files.
  • Prepare and present product sales training programs.
  • Write technical data sheets for Colmonoy and Nicrobraz Data Books, Applications and Engineering Data Books and promulgate AIM bulletins.
  • Have full understanding of the thermal spray & welding processes. (e.g. – HVOF, Plasma Spray & Sprayweld, PTA, Laser, MIG, TIT, MMA, Fuseweld, Oxy-Acetylene

  • Monthly Activity Plans
  • Expense Reports
  • Weekly Progress Reports
  • Customer Contact Reports

Requirements:

  • BS Metallurgical Engineering, BSME. MBA preferred
  • 10+ years experience in metals industry production solutions to metallurgical applications
  • 50% travel to North and South America, Europe and the Far East.
  • Leadership skills in problem solving, customer inter-face and negotiations
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to create technical papers, specifications, and presentations.
