Business Development Manager

Wall Colmonoy, established in 1938, is an international materials engineering company with operations in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and France. The world headquarters is located in Madison Heights, MI. The company operates a foundry in the U.S. and the U.K. for the purpose of manufacturing nickel- and cobalt-base alloys for brazing and coating. Applications exist, and are emerging, in industries from aerospace to automotive.

The position reporting to the Vice President/General Manager - Alloy Products is to continue the development and lead the growth and profitability of the Nicrobraz® product line.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete responsibility for profitability of product line(s), including pricing strategies, in coordination with the Commercial Director
  • Provide product development support to the technical services department, and collaborate with them in writing new product specifications, based upon the demands of the customers’ applications.
  • Focus on business development, with existing and new customers
  • Provide both commercial and technical support, as well as direction, to the products sales team.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Program manager for existing and potential applications.
  • Provide a monthly competitive analysis report, which would include information on market share, products, applications and strategies.
  • Develop strong working relationships with technical/commercial staff for key customers.
  • Predict and process recommendations for customer applications.
  • Act as a liaison with Processing Group Management personnel for application/process recommendations.
  • Conduct development programs, in coordination with technical services, at the plant level.
  • Submit weekly reports on activities, trips and sales forecasts.

Requirements:

  • BS Metallurgical Engineering, BSME. MBA preferred
  • 10+ years experience in metals industry production solutions to metallurgical applications
  • 50%+ travel to North and South America, Europe and the Far East.
  • Leadership skills in problem solving, customer inter-face and negotiations
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to create technical papers, specifications, and presentations.
